Unable to sign in to Gmail or G Suite on Mac OS 10.14.6 Mojave

Google requires completing authentication in Safari

Google G Suite and G Mail accounts now authenticate via Safari – Why can’t I log in?

The Solution

If you have a G Suite account or a G Mail account you may be finding that since you updated to Mac OS 10.14.6 and Safari 10.13 that you are no longer able to access your Mail, Contacts, Calendars and Notes via the Apple Applications on your Mac.

When you go to Apple Menu – System Preferences – Internet Accounts and select your Google Account you get the following message.

“Google requires completing authentication in Safari.
After authentication, setup will continue in Internet Accounts.”

It then gives the option to Cancel or Open Safari

When you select Open Safari literally nothing happens.
If you are getting this you need to head to Apple Menu – System Preferences – Software Update and look for Safari 13.0.1 update.

If you run this update, then restart your Mac, you should be able to authenticate your Google account again.
